Beat Merz has 22 years of experience as a venture and private equity investor in the medical device sector and is currently Managing Partner Europe at New Harbor Venture Partners, Director at XR-Invest,- Augmedics Inc., as well as an active angel investor. 

Over the past 20 years, he has served as a director of numerous private and public companies, including Thommen Medical AG, Orthognathics Ltd, Micrus Endovascular and Southeastern Technologies. Until 2007, he was the medical technology investment advisor at HBM Partners. 2008 to 2010 Partner at Ares Lifesciences and 2016 to 2020 Director at AO-Invest, the former venture arm of the AO Foundation. Prior to his work as a venture capital manager, Beat Merz was group leader and senior engineer at Straumann AG.
